Clubs
Retirees Club
The retirees club meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:00 am. Homeowners are represented from every enclave of Las Sendas. The current membership regularly participates in year-round events such as tennis, dominoes, bridge, game night, photography, hiking, evenings out and luncheons after each of the bi-weekly meetings. The club also puts on special annual events such as a Luau, a Christmas party, and a Chili Cook-off.
Membership is open to residents of Las Sendas but need not be retired to join the fun. Click here for a Calendar of club events or email Kevin Hanley, current Vice Chair at kjhanley2001@yahoo.com.
Book Club
The Book Club offers our neighbors the opportunity to relax and enjoy the book discussion in a spectacular setting. The Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Trailhead Member's Club from 6:30pm-8:00pm. To view the upcoming monthly book selections click here or see the Club folder under Resources.
Open to all residents, the Book Club has a unique concept. There are no restrictions on attendance. Some people attend every discussion and others come as they please. Everyone has such busy lives; not everyone can be tied down to a specific date and time each month. Our 'open doors' allow people to attend as their schedule and interest permits. No appointment needed"
The books are selected through a democratic process twice a year- in May and November. Each member suggests books for the next six months and the group votes on the books. The top six books are selected. The Book Club emails the books selected along with all the other books proposed to the members on our email list.
Over the years the Book Club has held a book drive for Sunshine Acres, developed a Christmas list of Member's All Time Favorite Books, traveled to the Heard Museum to view pottery mentioned in a book selection, attended a book discussion at the Changing Hands book store in Tempe and met with the authors for the One Book Arizona selection. At the December meeting we have cookie exchange along with the discussion. We all go home feeling festive, full and happy.
If you enjoy a friendly and lively book discussion, please join us at any time. We look forward to meeting our neighbors and sharing thoughts and ideas. For additional information contact Janice Hourihan at 480.580.4990 or Janice@JaniceHourihan.com.
